Differences Between Lab-PC-1200 and PCI-1200

Hardware: Legacy DAQ Devices>>Multifunction DAQ>>Lab-PC-1200, Legacy DAQ Devices>>Multifunction DAQ>>PCI-1200

Problem:
I have a Lab-PC-1200 and I am thinking of buying a PCI-1200. I need to know the main differences between the two cards other than the fact that Lab-PC-1200 is an ISA-bus board, and the PCI-1200 is a PCI-bus board.

Solution:
According to the manuals of Lab-PC-1200 and PCI-1200, the boards have the following differences:
  • The FIFO on the Lab-PC-1200 can hold 512 samples, while that of PCI-1200 can hold 4096 samples.
  • Unlike the Lab-PC-1200, the DMA mode of the PCI-1200 is scatter-gather (see KnowledgeBase 0P3BPGSR, linked below).
  • The typical update rate for the Lab-PC-1200 is 1 kS/s, while that of the PCI-1200 ranges from 20 S/s to 1 kS/s.
  • The minimum gate pulse for the Lab-PC-1200 is 100 µs, while that of the PCI-1200 is 50 ns (i.e., PCI is faster than ISA).
  • Power consumption for the Lab-PC-1200 is 185 mA @ ± 5 VDC, while that of the PCI-1200 is 425 mA @ ±5 VDC.
Note: Consider M Series DAQ for lower prices and higher performance with the PCI-6221.
