Why is DIAdem 2011 slower in loading bulk data than DIAdem 2010?

Primary Software: DIAdem
Primary Software Version: 10.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
When loading very large files into DIAdem 2011, the load time is noticeably slower than in DIAdem 2010. Why is this occurring, and is there a way to improve the speed?

Solution:
Between the 2011 and 2010 Version of DIAdem, there are significant changes in the way data is loaded into the data portal.

The primary difference is that in DIAdem 2010, the complete set of data was loaded, while in 2011 bulk data is only loaded into memory when needed. This change allows for much lower memory usage when working with large files, but causes a slowdown in performance. If higher speeds are more desirable than conserving memory, you can use the 2010 loading method in DIAdem 2011by checking the option always load bulk data in the properties » options » general » compatibility menu.
