Problem: I want to install the full recommended software set for NI-RIO 2.4 on a Single-Board RIO device. Unlike the software sets for the cRIO-901x, cRIO-900x, and cRIO-907x, the software set for Single-Board RIO devices does not include NI Serial or Modbus I/O Server. Why are those drivers missing from the Single-Board RIO software set? Solution: When NI RIO 2.4 was released, NI Serial and Modbus I/O Server did not support Single-Board RIO. To install support for NI Serial you must manually update your Host machine with support for NI Serial for Single-Board RIOs. You can locate the NI Serial support in 96xx/RT Images.zip from the NI-RIO 2.4 installation CD or the RT Images.zip attached below. To install NI Serial support for Single-Board RIO, extract the zipfile's contents into the following directory: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\RT Images Once installed, Measurement and Automation Explorer ( MAX ) will have a new Recommended Software Set called "NI-RIO 2.4.0 (with Serial support)" and look similar to the screenshot shown below.
