Placing a Negation Bar in a Symbol Pin Name

Primary Software: Electronics Workbench>>Multisim
Primary Software Version: 10.0.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem: How do a I place a negation bar (overline, overbar or overscore) on top of a symbol pin name?

Solution:
In the Symbol Editor of Multisim, use the Spreadsheet View to edit the name of a pin. You will use the ^ character to tell the Editor where to place the negation bar.

It works with the following convention:
  • If you type ^PinName you get: PinName
  • If you type Pin^Na^me you get: PinName
  • If you type PinName^ you get: PinName
After you save and close the Symbol Editor, place the part that uses this symbol and you will see the negation bar.

Remember that Multisim also features different Pin Shapes in the Symbol Editor and that you may represent the negation bar behavior with the Pin Shape rather than with the Pin Name.
