Simulating NI Motion Devices

Problem:
Is it possible to simulate an NI Motion device?

Solution:
Included with the NI Motion driver is the ability to simulate motion controllers in order to explore the available configuration options.  Setup a simulated device by following the steps below.

1. Open Measurement & Automation Explorer.
2. Right-click Devices and Interfaces and select Create New...



3. Select Virtual NI Motion Devices and click Next.



4. Choose one of the available NI Motion devices to simulate and select Finish.



5. The device you selected to simulate will now appear under NI Motion Devices.
