How Do I Export My Ultiboard User Database?

Primary Software: Electronics Workbench>>Ultiboard
Primary Software Version: 10.0.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
I have Ultiboard installed in two different computers and I have created custom components on one of them. I need to export these components to my other computer. How can I do this?

Solution:
Even though there is no Export Database functionality in Ultiboard, you can still migrate or export your User Database to another workstation. This is also helpful for creating a back-up of the User Database.

The following instructions also apply for the Corporate Database.

To find the User Database path:
  1. Select Options»Global Preferences... this brings the Preferences dialog.
  2. In the Paths tab you can note the exact location of the User Database.
  3. Browse to that location, copy the file into the new computer (or backup location).
In the new computer, you could just replace the current User Database with the new one, or you can point to the new User Database in the same dialog as the above instructions.

In newer versions of Ultiboard, you can also use the Database Utilities. Select Tools » Database and then you can either select Merge Database (same version databases) or Convert Database (for an older version database).

Typically, the User Database is located in the following directories:
  • Version 9 and older:
    C:\Program Files\Electronics Workbench\EWB<version>\database
  • Version 10:
    C:\Documents and Settings\<User_Name>\Application Data\National Instruments\Circuit Design Suite\10.0
Note: It is always a good practice to keep a back-up copy of the User and Corporate Databases.
