Problem: Each CAD software package uses its own file format. Which format is supported by NI-INSIGHT? Solution: The main format that NI-INSIGHT supports for CAD models is the VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) format. These files have a .wrl extension. Each CAD package has its own file format but almost all packages have the capability to export models to VRML format. National Instruments has limited documentation on how to convert CAD models from proprietary formats to VRML for the three main CAD modeling packages.
