How Do I Configure PCMCIA Boot Support for VXIpc-870b Controllers?

Hardware: VXI/VME/MXI>>VXI Controllers>>VXIpc-870B

Problem:
I have a VXIpc-870b series controller and would like to boot using my PMCIA hard drive. How do I configure this?

Solution:
There is a PCMCIA slot on the front panel for VXIpc-870b controllers. You can set up BIOS to boot from a PC Card Hard Drive through this slot.

In order to do this you must set the following BIOS Settings:

  • Advanced » Local BUS IDE Adapter = Secondary
  • Advanced » PCMCIA Boot Support = Enabled
Reboot and enter BIOS again and you should see under the MAIN tab that the PCMCIA device is now recognized as a HDD.
  • Boot » Change Boot Order to put your PCMCIA HDD at the top of the list
Reboot and it will now boot from your PCMCIA Hard Drive.

You should now be able to boot using your PCMCIA hard drive.
