Self Test Function Does Not Work For PXI-5404 In LabVIEW or LabWindows/CVI

Problem:
When calling niFgen_self_test in LabWindows/CVI 8.1 to 8.5 or the niFgen Self-Test.vi in LabVIEW 8.6 for the PXI-5404, there is no message passed back to indicate whether the device passed or failed the self test. If the device fails the self test the error handler does return an error message but there is no message generated by that self test function. I do not know if the self test is working for my PXI 5404.

Solution:
This issue is expected behavior with the use of the Self Test function with the PXI-5404. The self test function is still performing the expected actions, but is not returning a message to indicate whether it has passed or failed.

We are looking into adding this functionality for the PXI-5404 in future releases of the NI-FGEN driver (the current driver version is 2.6.1).

For now, the best way to monitor whether the self test has passed or failed is to use error handling and check the error string.
