DAQCards or CAN Devices Fail to Get Recognized Through PCMCIA-to-PCI Adapter. Hardware: Digital I/O (DIO)>>High-Speed>>DAQCard-6533
Problem: What is causing the problems when I use a 3rd party PCMCIA-to-PCI adapter to connect my PCMCIA CAN or DAQ cards to my desktop computer? Solution: Not all PCMCIA-to-PCI adapters are compatible with NI-DAQ Cards or NI-CAN Cards. If you are having problems with a PCMCIA-to-PC adapter, the easiest solution is to use an alternate PCMCIA-to-PCI adapter. The DAQCard 700 has successfully been used with a PCMCIA-to-PCI adapter from Synchrotech. This PCMCIA-to-PCI adapter should work on all Windows systems, however it was only able to detect our DAQCard 700 on a Windows 98 system. The same Synchrotech adapter was also successful with a DAQCard-6036E on a Windows 2000 system. We have received reports that the Synchrotech PCM-CR-PC1IC2 has worked properly with PCMCIA-CAN cards. Again, if you're having problems with a particular PCMCIA-to-PCI adapter just try another PCMCIA-to-PCI adapter from another manufacturer. This will resolve most issues you may have with using PCMCIA DAQ or CAN cards in a desktop. Also note that these adapters require their own driver, so make sure that the driver is appropriate for the operating system and is installed before installing the National Instruments PCMCIA card in the adapter.
