Building ELVIS 3.x Soft Front Panel Instruments and Instrument Launcher

Problem:
How do I build soft front panel instruments and instrument launcher for ELVIS 3.0 and later?

Solution:
The source code for the soft front panel instruments is available for modification for individual needs.  Each soft front panel can be built into a single executable and run on its own.  However, because the shared ELVIS resource code manages the resources between instruments, running multiple instruments concurrently requires a rebuild of the entire instrument launcher and soft front panel.  Here are instructions on how to do this.  You must use LabVIEW 8.0 or higher.

Note: Make sure that you do not change the path of the installed NI ELVIS Source Code files. These instructions assume that the NI ELVIS Source Code is present at C:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI ELVIS 3.0.

1. Copy labview.ico to the 'C:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI ELVIS 3.0\Source Code' directory.
2. Open elvis.lvproj. Expand Build Specifications, right click on the NI ELVIS application and select Properties.
3. In the Application destination directory section, choose the path where you want the executable to be saved.
4. Click Build. This will build the ELVIS executable at the given destination.
