Red SYSFAIL and FAILED LEDs Remain On After Booting the VXIpc-486

Hardware: VXI/VME/MXI>>VXI Controllers>>VXIcpu-030

Problem:
Is there something wrong with the VXIpc-486 if the red SYSFAIL and FAILED LEDs stay lit after booting?

Solution:
Most likely, the VXIpc-486 has not yet run the hardware initialization program, VXIINIT. Once it runs this program successfully, the FAILED LED should definitely become unlit.  If no other devices are explictly asserting the backplane SYSFAIL line, the SYSFAIL LED should also become unlit.

If either the SYSFAIL or FAILED LED remains lit, follow these steps:

  1. Power down the mainframe.
  2. Remove all other modules from the mainframe.
  3. Then make certain that the VXIpc-486 jumper settings are set correctly.
  4. Also make sure that the VXIpc-486 is seated properly in the mainframe.
  5. Power on the mainframe and observe whether the SYSFAIL and FAILED LEDs become unlit after VXIINIT is run.
