How Do I Request Permission for Older Software Versions within Volume License Manager (VLM) 2.1 or 2.0 ? Primary Software: Other NI Software>>NI Volume License ManagerPrimary Software Version: 2.0 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: I am a final user of National Instruments software, and I need to install and activate an older version of my preferred software, i.e. LabVIEW. The volume license installer provided by the NI Volume License Manager administrator is only for the newer version of the software. How do I request permission to VLM for my older version of LabVIEW? Solution: When VLM gives permission for a specific version of a software, i.e. LabVIEW 8.5, you get permission also for older versions, thus the fastest solution is to install both newer and older version of the software on the same PC. If for some reason you cannot have both versions installed on the same PC, but you prefer to have only the older, you can ask permission to VLM using the following approach:
The function of the suggested files is to send a request directly to VLM to register the installed software. This way you ask permissions for the latest software version without effectively installing. Likely, after sending the permission request, you will need to contact your VLM administrator and ask to accept the request within VLM.
