Error 1 When Setting Front Panel Window Bounds

Primary Software:
Primary Software Version: 1.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

I am using a property node to set the window bounds of my front panel. When I run the program I get the following error:

Error 1 occurred at Property Node (arg 1) in Untitled 1

Possible reason(s):

LabVIEW: An input parameter is invalid.

NI-488: Command requires GPIB Controller to be Controller in Charge.

If I copy the block diagram code to a new VI and run the VI, I don't get the error. Why am I getting this error?

This error is caused by setting the window bounds to be less than the minimum panel size specified in the VI properties.

When setting the four attributes of the FP.PanelBounds property node, the difference between the Left and Right attributes must be greater than the Minimum Panel Size Width, and the difference between the Top and Bottom attributes must be greater than the Minimum Panel Size Height.

In order to correct this, follow these steps:
  1. Go to the menu bar of the front panel and click on File>>VI Properties...
  2. Select Window Size as the Category.
  3. Set the Width and Height of the Minimum Panel Size to 0 (or something less than the Left/Right difference for Width, and something less than the Top/Bottom difference for Height).

The reason you do not receive this error when you copy the code into a new VI is because the new VI has a default Minimum Panel Size Width and Height of 0.

Note: The Minimum Panel Size Width and Height do not include the following Window Appearance items. However, the WinBounds property includes the following Window Appearance Items.
  • Title Bar
  • Menu Bar
  • Scroll Bars
  • Toolbar
  • Resize
For example, you can programmatically set the WinBounds of the front panel window to have a width of 500 and a height of 500. If your front panel includes all of the Window Appearance Items listed above and you go to the Window Appearance category in VI Properties, click on "Set to Current Window Size" and you will notice that the width and height will be less than 500.
