Is it Possible to Use a DAQ Device with LabVIEW RTX?

Primary Software: LabVIEW Modules>>Real-Time Module
Primary Software Version: N/A
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A
Hardware: Multifunction DAQ (MIO)

Problem:
I have a DAQ board and would like to use it in a Real-Time environment. Is it possible to use it with LabVIEW RTX?

Solution:
Yes, LabVIEW RTX supports the DAQmx Base driver needed to use a DAQ board in this environment.

In order to use it make sure that you have installed RTX and LabVIEW RTX properly. If they have not been installed perform the following steps:
  1. Install LabVIEW 7.1 or later if not previously installed.
  2. Install RTX.
  3. Install LabVIEW Real-Time Module for RTX Targets.
  4. Reboot the computer.
  5. Install the DAQmx driver.
  6. Install DAQmx Base for RTX.
    • For LabVIEW 7.1, install version 1.5.1
    • For LabVIEW 8.0 or 8.2, install version 2.1
  7. Turn off computer, insert the DAQ board into the computer, and turn it back on.
  8. Windows will detect the board and install it.
  9. Go to the RTX properties and add the RTX INF support.
  10. Go to the Device Manager and uninstall the board from Windows.
  11. Refresh the Device Manager hardware list and once it gets detected, it should give you the option to install the board but with the DAQmx Base for RTX driver.
For more detailed information, check the attached link to Installing Reconfigurable IO boards for LabVIEW RTX.

You can download the necessary drivers from the Multifunction DAQ drivers link below.

Note: Not all DAQ boards are supported in DAQmx Base so be sure to check the readme for DAQmx Base for a full listing of supported devices. For example, as of now, the PCIe-6251 and 6259 are not supported for DAQmx Base in LabVIEW RTX.
