Can Lookout use Multiple Communication Protocols on the Same COM Port when Transmitting Radio? Primary Software: LookoutPrimary Software Version: 6.0.2 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: I have multiple PLCs/RTUs that I would like to communicate with when Transmitting Radio over a single COM port. Is it possible to use Multiple Communication Protocols when transmitting Radio in Lookout? Solution: Yes, it is possible to communicate on multiple communication protocols using the same COM port in Lookout. Lookout does not associate baud rate, data bits, parity, or stop bits with a particular serial port. Lookout driver objects that implement different protocols and baud rates can use the same port and the same modem or radio frequency. This capability allows you to use various RTUs, PLCs, and other control hardware over a single radio frequency without communication conflicts or special hardware. For example, you can use a single two-way radio connected to a serial port to communicate with several different brands of RTUs out in the field, each one using a different protocol. For more information about Serial COM Port Communication please refer to the Lookout Developers Manual in the related Links section below. Related Links: Lookout Developer's Manual Attachments:
