LEDs on a [c]FP-TC-120 Do Not Light Up When a Thermocouple is Connected

Hardware: Compact FieldPoint>>Analog I/O Modules>>cFP-TC-120, FieldPoint>>Analog I/O Modules>>FP-TC-120

Problem:
When I connect a thermocouple to my [c]FP-TC-120 module the red LEDs do not light up to show that the thermocouple is connected. How can I make the LEDs light up?

Solution:
The LEDs labeled 0 through 7 indicate if a thermocouple is connected. However, each channel of the module can be configured as either a temperature measurement or a voltage measurement. To enable the LEDs to detect open thermocouples, the channels need to be configured as a temperature measurement. To change the configuration of the channels do the following:

  • In Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) under Remote Systems click on your TC-120 module

  • Click on the Channel Configuration tab at the bottom center

  • Select the Channel that you want and then change the Range from a voltage to a temperature range

  • Click on the Save button at the top

  • Now when you connect a thermocouple to a channel, the red LED for that channel should light up

This applies to both the FP-TC-120 and the cFP-TC-120
