Is NI Software Supported on Linux Systems That Use AMD Processors? Primary Software: LabVIEW Run-Time EnginePrimary Software Version: 7.1 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: Some downloads on the NI website say "Intel x86". Does this mean that NI software is not supported on Linux systems with AMD processors? Solution: NI software can be used on Linux systems with a non-Intel processor. When a software download refers to x86, this term just means 32-bit Linux. While Intel designed the x86 architecture, other 32-bit systems, including AMD, can be x86 compatible. It is also important to note that some 64-bit machines can run in 32-bit mode, which is x86 compatible. Thus, a software download that refers to x86 (for example the LabVIEW 8.0 Run-Time Engine - Intel x86) will work on both 32-bit x86 machines as well as x86_64 machines running in 32-bit mode.
