How Do I Install the Modbus I/O Servers?

Updated May 20, 2024

Environment

Software

  • LabVIEW Real-Time Module
  • LabVIEW Datalogging and Supervisory Control Module

  • I have noticed that some computers have the Modbus I/O Server installed, but do not have the DSC module. What software do I need to install in order to use the Modbus I/O Servers?
  • How can I install Modbus I/O Servers on my PC or cRIO?

There are two options to install Modbus I/O Servers.

These Modbus I/O Servers are installed for Windows computers from the LabVIEW DSC Module installer. This means that LabVIEW and the DSC module must be installed to create Modbus I/O Servers.

The LabVIEW Real-Time Module can also install these Modbus I/O Servers, but only for use in LabVIEW Real-Time systems. The Modbus I/O Servers installed with the LabVIEW Real-Time Module cannot be used for Windows development. Installing Modbus I/O Servers on the cRIO are installed just like any other piece of software on a cRIO.

Additional Information

A Modbus I/O Server that can be used to connect to Modbus slave devices and a Modbus Slave I/O Server that can be used to represent your application as a Modbus slave device to other Modbus masters. The server connects to the LabVIEW Shared Variable Engine to allow LabVIEW Shared Variables to write to Modbus Coils and Registers.
