PCMCIA-GPIB Inaccessible after Reinsertion

Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-488.2
Primary Software Version: 2.5
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: Driver Software>>NI-VISA
Hardware: GPIB>>Plug-in Controllers>>PCMCIA-GPIB+, GPIB>>Plug-in Controllers>>PCMCIA-GPIB

Problem:
I removed and reinserted my PCMCIA-GPIB or PCMCIA-GPIB+ card. Afterwards, I am unable to access my GPIB instruments. Is there a way to stop this behavior?

Solution:
This may occur if the PCMCIA card is removed from the computer and reinserted while a session to the card is open.  Any application that access the GPIB interface should be stopped and shut down before removal of the interace. To resolve this issue, ensure that all applications which access the GPIB card are closed, then remove and reinsert the PCMCIA-GPIB card.
