Why Can't I Edit a Switch Executive Virtual Device In MAX? Primary Software: Switch ExecutivePrimary Software Version: 2.0 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: I have imported a Switch Executive .xml file that was developed on another computer and I trying to edit the virtual device. However, several of the fields for my virtual device are either greyed out or seem to be frozen and I can only operate on a few buttons. What's wrong? Solution: Most likely you only have a deployment license and not a full development license on the computer you have imported to. Look in the upper right corner of MAX under "Show Help" and you should see "Deployment Mode" indicated there if you only have a deployment license (see screenshot below). The following license descriptions are taken from the NI Switch Executive Help File (linked below): Development Full programmatic access and configuration support of Switch Executive. Deployment Full programmatic access to Switch Executive. Allows you to import Switch Executive virtual devices from file into Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX). Switch Executive virtual devices are nonconfigurable and read-only. Evaluation Full programmatic access and configuration support for 30 days. After 30 days, the programmatic support expires after 10 minutes of use and the software behaves as the deployment license.
