What Motors will Work with the MID-76xx Drives?

Hardware: Motion Control>>Power Drives>>MID-7602, Motion Control>>Power Drives>>MID-7604, Motion Control>>Power Drives>>MID-7652, Motion Control>>Power Drives>>MID-7654

Problem:
I am selecting motors for my MID-76xx Drive. What are the specifications the motor needs to meet?

Solution:
The MID-765x Drives are +/-48V nominal voltage pulse-width modulated (PWM) servo drives and the MID-760x Drives are +/- 24V nominal voltage PWM stepper drives. Although they have nominal voltages at a certain level, each drive performs current control on the connected motors. This means that it will vary the PWM output to meet the current settings.

Motors that are rated at a voltage equal to or less than the nominal voltage rating will work with the MID drives as long as the following conditions are met.

MID-765x Drive (DC Servo Motors): MID-760x Drive (Stepper Motors):
  • Continuous Current: 0.2 amps to 1.4 amps.
  • Wiring connection
    - most 8, and 6 wire unipolar and 4 wire bi-polar configurations (5 wire unipolar or variable reluctance not supported)
    - see Stepper Motor Configurations on page 17 of the MID-760x Users Manual
  • The MID-760x drives do not have a minimum inductance requirement.
