Issue Details

I am trying to configure my PXI(e) system with an embedded controller in NI Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX). I have noticed that, when I expand Devices and Interfaces, my chassis appears but my controller does not. Why does this happen, and what can I do to fix it?

Solution

  • Check your versions of PXI Platform Services and NI MAX
  • If your PXI Platform Services is version 16.0 or newer, and your version of NI-MAX is older than 16.0:
    • Upgrade your version of NI-MAX to 16.0 or newer to resolve the issue.
  • Install a version of System Configuration , 16.0 or newer, to get the corresponding version of NI-MAX.
  • Updating controller BIOS may solve the issue as well.

Additional Information

  • This behavior is most likely happening due to a known issue that affected versions of MAX prior to 16.0.
  • NI-MAX cannot be installed on its own. System Configuration is the smallest download that will upgrade the version of NI-MAX
  • Updating controller BIOS, also can solve the issue when controller doesn't see bootable USB while upgrading/updating Windows operating system on a PXI(e) controller.
