Error -70063 When Using the Configure Buffer or Check Buffer Function

Hardware: Motion Control>>Controllers>>PCI-7340, Motion Control>>Controllers>>PXI-7340, Motion Control>>Controllers>>PCI-7350, Motion Control>>Controllers>>PXI-7358

Problem:
When I try to load a buffer with the Configure Buffer function, I get the following error:
Error -70063 occurred at Check Buffer

Possible reasons:
The buffer has not been configured properly. Buffer type cannot be changed. The buffer might exist in ROM, but has not yet been configured since the last power cycle.

How do I fix this error?

Solution:

Error -70063 can occur when the buffer exists in ROM but has not yet been configured since the last power cycle.

You will get this error in the following two cases:

  • You are calling the Check Buffer function after you reset the motion controller but before you configure the buffer
  • You have the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) open and its Object Memory Manager tab is calling Check Buffer
You should program your software to not call Check Buffer until after you configure the buffer. Also, try closing MAX.
