Problem: I have an active Volume License Account (VLA) and I know that my end-users are entitled to NI technical support. How do I acquire and where do I send the end-user information?
Solution: If you are using NI Volume License Manager (VLM), you have three choices on collecting the end-user information. For those using MacroVision FLEXlm software, refer to the third choice for collecting information.
- Using the NI VLM Activity Compliance log - Under the NI VLM preferences (Options>>Preferences...), you can choose to Include Owner Information in Activity Compliance Log for Technical Support. This will attach the end-user information (computers and users) into the activity compliance log that is sent to National Instruments. We will update our technical support information when you send us the Activity Compliance Log at renewal time. However, you can also choose to save the log and send it to NI in advance in order to add you end-users to technical support as soon as possible.
- Exporting User and Computer Information from NI VLM 2.1 and Later - You can export your computer and user information from NI VLM 2.1 and later by selecting Options>>Export Users and Computers.... You can then save this file in a tab-seperated value (TSV) format which can be opened by a spreadsheet program. You can send this file to National Instruments, or you can open the file first to make any necessary additions or deletions before sending it to NI.
- Other Methods - There are various other methods that you can use to collect end-user information. One method is to utilize the usage information using the NI VLM usage log or FLEXnet Manager reporting. Parse out the end user information into a spreadsheet or text file, and then send the information to National Instruments. In general, we will accept any text or spreadsheet file which contains the end-user's name, email address, and phone number.
Once you have acquired the end-user information, you can send it to
agreements@ni.com. Be sure to identify that you are sending end-user information in for technical support in the body of the email. You can contact the NI Agreements Group if you have any further questions regarding end-user technical support.
