How do I make a custom scale in the Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX)?

Primary Software: Utility Software>>Measurement & Automation Explorer
Primary Software Version: 1.0.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
I would like to make a custom scale in the Measurement & Automation Explorer to use with NI-DAQmx or NI Traditional DAQ in LabVIEW.

Solution:
First, open Measurement and Automation Explorer by going to Start » Programs » National Instruments » Measurement & Automation.

Once the Measurement & Automation Explorer has opened, find the Scales branch found under My System of the Configuration tree.

Right Click on Scales and select “Create New…

A menu will display allowing you to choose to create an NI-DAQmx Scale or a Traditional DAQ Scale. Choose which one you wish to create and click Finish.

For DAQmx:

After selecting to create an NI-DAQmx Custom Scale, a new menu will allow you to choose what type of scale you would like to create.  A linear Scale was chosen for this example.

Next you can choose a name for the Custom Scale and click Finish. After clicking finish you should be returned to the main view of Measurement & Automation Explorer with the center pane displaying the settings of your new Custom Scale.

Along with the settings being displayed for the custom scale, the scale is also listed under the NI-DAQmx Scales Folder.

For Traditional DAQ:

After selecting to create a Traditional DAQ Custom scale, a new menu will allow you to choose what to name the scale and to fill in any notes about its purpose/function.  A Linear Scale was chosen this example.

Next you will be given the option to configure the scale that you just created.

Once you’ve configured your scale to your liking, you can view it in graph form and set the raw input range of values of the DAQ device that will be scaled.

The scale should now be listed under the Traditional NI-DAQ Custom Scales Folder.
