Primary Software Fixed Version: 8.3.7
Secondary Software: Electronics Workbench>>Ultiboard
Problem: Unable to find the option to edit pad shapes and create customized pads in Electronics Workbench Ultiboard (for example, where the hole is not in the center of the pad).
Solution: This is a two stage process:
- Create the custom pad shape with a new reference point
- Apply this pad to a part (see below for procedure)
Procedure for applying custom pad shape to a part:
- Select Database>>Database Manager.
- Under the parts column, select the first icon (symbol of a perforated
box).
- Click on custom pad shape.
- Create the rectangular shape and set the reference point (Options-->
Set Reference point). The reference will indicate where the drill hole is located.
- Save the pad and exit the editor.
To create the part:
- Select Tools-->Database--> Database Manager.
- Under the parts column select the first icon (symbol of a perforated
box).
- Click on PCB part.
- Once you are in the footprint Editor select Place--> Footprint Pins
- A new window will open and select THT pin.
- For TOP, Inner, and bottom use the drop down menu and select Custom.
- For each layer select the custom pad that was created.
- Select OK and you will be able to place custom pad.
- Remember to reduce the annular ring if needed
