How To Correct Calibrated Images in VBAI

Primary Software: Vision Builder for Automated Inspection
Primary Software Version: N/A
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
I'm using Vision Builder for Automated Inspection (VBAI) 3.0.1 to calibrate an image. I would like to perform some processing functions, such as OCR, on the corrected image, but I do not see a function that allows me to correct the calibrated image. I see an option on the Axis tab of the calibration step that allows me to “Preview Corrected Image”, but it does not allow me to keep the corrected image when I select the OK button in the Calibrate Image Setup window. How can I correct my calibrated image in VBAI?

Solution:

As of VBAI 3.0.1, there is not a VBAI step that corrects the calibrated image, nor is there a way to do it with the Vision Assistant Step in VBAI. In order to correct the calibrated image, use the Run LabVIEW VI Step to call a VI that uses the IMAQ Correct Calibrated Image VI. This will work using LabVIEW 8.0.1 for VBAI 3.0.1.  A sample VI is attached to do this. Perform the following steps to correct the image in VBAI:

  1. Download the attached Corrected Calibrated Image VI.
  2. Place this VI in the Run LabVIEW VI Step after the Calibrate Image Step in your VBAI Script.
  3. Make sure to configure the image source on the VI Controls tab.

This will return the corrected image that you want to process.
