Problem Changing Settings for Two Motion Controller Boards in One System

Hardware: Motion Control>>Controllers

Problem: I have two similar motion control boards in one system, when I change the settings for one of the boards in Measurement and Automation Explorer and apply those settings the same settings for the other board are also changed. What is causing this to happen and what can I do to fix the problem?

Solution: In Measurement and Automation Explorer all the motion controller setting are saved in a configuration file. When you change the settings and hit the Apply button the changes are saved to the file associated with the controller. If the same file is associated with both the motion controller boards then applying the setting on one will cause the settings for the other board to change.

To fix this problem you need to change the configuration file that is associated with either one of the controllers. To create a new configuration file in Measurement and Automation Explorer find your card listed under Devices and Interfaces and look for the current configuration file associated with it. Right click on the present file and select Change Current Settings… as shown in the figure below:

In the Initialize Settings window that opens up select Create New Settings…, name the new configuration and hit Change, as shown in the figure below:

Once you associate different configuration files for the two boards the problem should be resolved.
