What Happens When I Hardwire and Mutually Exclude the Same Connection in Switch Executive? Primary Software: Switch ExecutivePrimary Software Version: 1.0 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A Hardware: Switches>>Multiplexer/Matrix
Problem: I have two multiplexers which I want to combine together to create a larger multiplexer in Switch Executive. I want to ensure that all the channels from one multiplexer are mutually excluded from the others. I created a hardwire connection between the COMs. I also placed the COMs in mutual exclusion in Switch Executive. What happens when I do that? Solution: Nothing will happen, unless there is a route or route group that utilizes the connection. Conceptually, one can not have a hardwire between COMs and also have the COMs mutually excluded from one another. It is not physically possible. However, Switch Executive will not complain about this sort of practice. Switch Executive only fails validation if the routes or a route group you attempt to create violates a mutual exclusion. If there is a hardwire connection that violates the exclusion, Switch Executive does not register this as a failure. This method of hardwiring and mutually excluding COMs to create a larger multiplexer is not recommended. A better method is to create a hardwire between the COMs and then add all the channels from the various multiplexer modules to a mutual exclusion in Switch Executive.
