Why Can't I See the RT Chassis' Device Names In the Resource Name Control In My VI?Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-SCOPEPrimary Software Version: 1.1 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A Hardware: Modular Instruments>>High-Speed Digitizers (Scopes)>>PCI-5122
Problem: I have a PXI controller running a real-time operating system. On my host computer I am creating an application for my modular instruments. I am currently using the niScope EX Getting Started.vi and I want to set the device I will be running on my real-time machine, but when I try to select my device from the Resource Name Control, all that is available is DAQ::1. The following picture is what I am seeing. ![]() I can see the devices, named properly, in Measurement & Automation Explorer. How can I see the devices that are in my real-time system? Solution: The host computer uses VISA commands to query the chassis for information about the devices that it has in it. In order to query the real-time system for the device names that you see in Measurement & Automation Explorer you have to change the VISA options. To do this in MAX, navigate to Tools»NI-VISA»VISA Options as shown in the picture below. Here you must make sure that VISA has permission to talk to your remote real-time machine. ![]() This path takes you to the following window. ![]() Once you get to this window, you must click Remote and make sure that your PXI chassis is checked.
