Editing Windows 95/98/ME Registry
Hardware: Legacy DAQ Devices
Problem: How do I remove an unrecognized device from my Windows 95/98/ME registry when I have additional recognized devices that I do not want to remove?
Solution:
- Double-click on your NIC directories in the Registry Editor. You will have directories under them.
- Click on the directories under the NIC directories, and the right-hand side of the Registry Editor screen will give you information about what the card is (the image below demonstrates)
- Notice how the DeviceDesc on the right tells us which card (AT-MIO-16DE-10 in this case) is associated with the directory 00000069 (will probably be a different number on your machine).
- What you need to do now is:
- Find all directories (max of 2) that are associated with the unrecognized card.
- Delete those associated directories (the NIC ones and their subdirectories) from the Registry.
- Exit the Registry Editor.
- DO NOT REBOOT YOUR MACHINE YET.
- Install the NI-DAQ Driver.
- After the driver is installed, reboot your machine. The device should be found.
