Log Data to Citadel at Discrete Times with Lookout

Primary Software: Lookout
Primary Software Version: 6.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem: Can I flip a switch at discrete times and log or not log data to the Citadel database?

Solution: Typically Lookout will only log data on a value change of an I/O point; however, if you want to log at discrete times you will need to use the logger object. You have the option of logging data discretely under two possible situations:
  1. The first situation is when you have one I/O point connected to the logger object with the data point always available. You can simply write data to the Data1 data member and also write an optional time stamp to the Time1 data member. Each time you switch the “LogNow” data member to true, the logger object will log data to Citadel.
  2. The second situation is when you connect to a Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) which acquires and stores data in its hardware registers. You can usually dial into the RTU to acquire data at specified time intervals. You can then connect the data to the DataN data member (where N is the nth data stored in the RTU) and connect the time stamp to the TimeN data member. When the “LogNow” data member is true it will log the data with its corresponding time stamp.

More information on the logger object is in the Lookout help documentation. Search for "logger."
