Error -5006: 0x80004005 Installing EWB Network License Server

Problem:

During the installation of the Electronics Workbench Network License Server (NLS), I get a window with the error message:

An error (-5006: 0x80004005) has occurred while running the setup.

What can I do to install my software?



Solution:

As a workaround, please make sure that the original product CD is in your CD-ROM drive. Use the Windows® Control Panel and the Add/Remove Programs utility to install the Network License Server.

  1. Go to Start » Programs » Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Click the Add New Programs icon on the left side of the dialog.
  4. Click CD or Floppy.
  5. Make sure the CD is in the CD-ROM and click Next.
  6. Navigate to <CD drive:>\fscommand\msminst\ewbserver.
  7. Select and run setup.exe.

You should not get any error this time.
