User Specified Excitation Values for Virtual Channels.

Primary Software: Utility Software>>Measurement & Automation Explorer
Primary Software Version: 3.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: Driver Software>>NI-DAQ, Driver Software>>NI-DAQmx
Hardware: SCXI>>Modules

Problem: While setting up virtual channels in Measurement and Automation Exporer (MAX), can I control the amount of excitation provided by the SCXI Modules to my sensor if I set the excitation value to be user specified?

Solution: No. The excitation values are used to interpret and scale the incoming readings to their proper physical values. The SCXI modules can only provide a preset amount of excitation (which you can select from after choosing the excitation source as built in).

If you are supplying excitation from the external source, the virtual channels have to know the external excitation level to transform the incoming signals accurately. Therefore, the user specified excitation values are only used in the calculations after the signal has been acquired and do not influence the SCXI excitation levels.
