Why do I Get the Error "Incorrect File Type" when I Open a LVM File?Primary Software: LabVIEW Development Systems>>LabVIEW Base PackagePrimary Software Version: N/A Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: LabVIEW Signal Express>>Development System
Problem: I have created a LabVIEW Measurment (LVM) file with the Save to ASCII/LVM (LabVIEW SignalExpress) Express VI in LabVIEW 8.6 and now I cannot load the saved file. When I try to load the LVM file using the Load from ASCII/LVM (LabVIEW SignalExpress) Express VI I get error "Incorrect file type" Solution: There is a problem with the Save to ASCII/LVM (LabVIEW SignalExpress) Express VI in LabVIEW 8.6 that causes the LVM file to be unrecognized when loaded using Load/Read LVM VIs. This is a known issue, and the workaround is to write to ASCII file rather than LVM when using the Save to ASCII/LVM (LabVIEW SignalExpress) Express VI in LabVIEW 8.6 Another option is to use the LabVIEW SignalExpress data logging features to create logs of your signals in the .tdms file format. The logged data can then be viewed in SignalExpress, LabVIEW, Excel (using the TDM Excel Add-In) etc. Related Links: AE KB 49884D84: LabVIEW SignalExpresss Save to ASCII/LVM Express VI Always Appends to File in While Loop Developer Zone Tutorial: NI TDM Data Model Developer Zone Tutorial: TDM Excel Add-In for Microsoft Excel Download Attachments:
