External Triggering on the PCI-5411.
Hardware: Signal Sources (AWG/FG/AO)>>Arbitrary Waveform and Function Generators>>PCI-5411
Problem: I have connected my external trigger to the EXT TRIG SMB connector on the front of my PCI-5411. How do I setup the external trigger in software to use that pin?
Solution:
If you want to use the EXT TRIGGER SMB connector on the PCI-5411 to use an external trigger you will have to specify the input string as NIFGEN_VAL_EXTERNAL. Below is a table that talks about the different options you can use for the trigger source
Defined Values:
NIFGEN_VAL_IMMEDIATE
Immediate—The signal generator does not wait for a trigger of any kind.
NIFGEN_VAL_EXTERNAL
External—The signal generator waits for a trigger on the external trigger input.

NIFGEN_VAL_PFI_0
PFI 0
NIFGEN_VAL_PFI_1
PFI 1
NIFGEN_VAL_PFI_2

NIFGEN_VAL_PFI_3
PFI 3
NIFGEN_VAL_SOFTWARE_TRIG
Software Trigger—The signal generator waits until you call the niFgen Send Software Trigger VI.

NIFGEN_VAL_RTSI_0
RTSI line 0

NIFGEN_VAL_RTSI_1

NIFGEN_VAL_TTL0
PXI TRIG0 or VXI TTL0
NIFGEN_VAL_TTL1
PXI TRIG1 or VXI TTL1

For example, if you are using LabVIEW, you can create a string constant and wire it into the source input of the NIFGEN Configure Digital Edge Start Trigger.
