Why Don't My Alarms Disappear When I Acknowledge Them?

Primary Software: LabVIEW Modules>>DSC Module
Primary Software Version: N/A
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
When using alarming in LabVIEW DSC, my alarms are supposed to be cleared from the Alarm and Event Display when the user acknowledges them.  However, instead of being cleared, the alarms remain in the table but change color.

Solution:
This issue is most likely due to the alarm Deadband. A shared variable does not return to a normal state until it has left the alarm condition set by Level by at least the value of Deadband. The alarm Deadband is a percent of the full scale range. By default, the alarm Deadband is 1% and the full scale range is 100. Therefore, unless the shared variable value changes by at least 1, the alarms will not be cleared, even if they are acknowledged.

You can configure the Deadband and full scale range by going to the Shared Variable properties.  If you are creating shared variables dynamically, you can control the scaling and alarm Deadband by using the SharedVariableIO property node.
