Autorouting Nets Inside a Keep-in Area in Ultiboard

Primary Software: Electronics Workbench>>Ultiboard
Primary Software Version: 10.1.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: Electronics Workbench>>Ultiroute

Problem:
I have several nets that need to be routed in a specified area, how do I instruct Ultiboard to do this?

Solution:
To specify the area where Ultiboard will route certain nets, you must create a net group and assign nets that need to be control to that group. Also, you have to create a keep in area which Ultiboard will use as a boundary. The following steps will walk you through this process:

Create Net Group
  1. From the main menu select Tools»Group Editor
  2. Under the Net Groups tab click the Add button
  3. Enter a group name in the Add Group dialog and press OK
  4. Under Available Nets double-click all nets that you want to control and they will appear under the Assigned Nets area
  5. Once you have assigned all nets to the group press OK to exit the Edit Group dialog
Create a Keepin Area
  1. From the main menu select Place»Keepout\Keepin Area
  2. Draw a closed polygon on the design area
  3. In the Design Toolbox double click the Keepin/out Layer to make it the active layer

    Figure 1: Design Toolbox

  4. Double click the keepin polygon boundary placed in step 2
  5. The Keep-in/keep-out Properties dialog appears, place a check in the Net Group checkbox and press Options
  6. Make sure the checkbox beside the net group is checked and press OK
  7. In the Type area, select the Keep-in radio button
  8. Press OK exit close the Keep-in/Keep-out Properties dialog
You are now ready to instruct Ultiboard to route the board and it will keep this group of nets inside the keepin area defined.
