Visual Studio .NET 2003 Project VC++ Directory Settings Are Changed or Removed After Measurement Studio 7.0 is Installed

Primary Software: Measurement Studio>>Enterprise Edition (Full Development System)
Primary Software Version: 7.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: 7.1
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem: After installing Measurement Studio 7.0, I get a lot of errors when compiling my Visual C++ projects. I am missing important Visual Studio .NET 2003 Project VC++ Directories. These directories are listed in Tools >> Options. How do I correct this and restore my standard directory settings?

Solution: This was a bug with Measurement Studio 7.0, and it has been fixed for Measurement Studio 7.1 and later versions.

Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 uses a VCComponents.dat file located in the C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\VisualStudio\7.1 directory in which the VC++ directories are stored.

When Measurement Studio 7.0 installs, it appends its needed directories to the [VC\VC_OBJECTS_PLATFORM_INFO\Win32\Directories] section of the VCComponents.dat file. In some cases, this was causing it to overwrite some of the directory information for the standard Visual Studio .NET 2003 VC++ libraries.

To restore your directories, copy over the exisiting VCComponents.dat file with the one attached to this article. You can find the file under C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\VisualStudio\7.1.

The attached file has all of the default header and library paths for Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003, as well as the path information for the National Instruments Measurement Studio Visual C++ libraries and National Instruments LabWindows/CVI C libraries.
