Why Do I Get Error 10038 When Using the Email VIs in LabVIEW PDA?

Problem:
When my PDA is plugged into my cradle and I use the SMTP email VIs, I get error 10038. How can I resolve this issue?

Solution:
Error 10038 reads "A required address was omitted from an operation on a socket."

In other words, there was a problem creating a connection to the socket that the PDA was going to use for TCP/IP communictions. This can be caused by several things. Try the following to aleviate the problem:

  1. Disable your antivirus program.
  2. Disable your firewall(s).
  3. Check with your IT department to make sure that nothing is blocking any socketes used for TCP/IP.
