How to Recover a Corrupt File with NI Circuit Design Suite

Primary Software: Electronics Workbench>>Multisim
Primary Software Version: 10.1.1
Primary Software Fixed Version:
Secondary Software: Electronics Workbench>>Ultiboard

Problem:

I am using the Circuit Design Suite (Multisim and/or Ultiboard) to make a schematic and PCB layout for my project yesterday, and today Circuit Design Suite won't open my file.  It looks like my file is corrupted, is there a way for me to recover the file?

Solution:

By default, Circuit Design Suite creates a security copy file for your design and it is saved in the same location where you saved your design.  In Multisim or Ultiboard do the following:

  1. On the main menu select File»Open
  2. In the Look In area, navigate to the path were you saved your design
  3. In the Files of Type area select the All Files (*.*) from the drop down menu
  4. If you see a file containing your design name follow by (Security Copy), you can open this file with Multisim or Ultiboard

If you don't see a security copy file in this folder, it is likely that you have disabled the security copy feature.  To turn the feature back on select Options»Global Preferences»Save Tab and place a check in the Create a "Security Copy" box.
