VB Script Error Saying that the File Must Be ANSI Coded.Primary Software: DIAdemPrimary Software Version: 9.1 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: Why do I get an error saying that the file must be ANSI coded when I try to run a VB script that calls a file that I created in the DIAdem Script panel? Solution: When you save a file in the DIAdem Script panel, there is no way to explicitly choose which encoding scheme to use for the file. It will default to what is set in the Desktop Parameters. To change your settings, make sure that you have a DIAdem Script panel active and go to "Settings >> Desktop parameters >> Panel specific... >> File coding:". There is a pull-down menu that allows you to choose between the "ANSI" and "UNICODE" encoding schemes. Make sure that "ANSI" is chosen. The changes will not take place until you have saved your "desktop.ddd" file. If you close down DIAdem, you will be prompted to do so. You can also go to "Window >> close all" and then "File >> save settings" to save it. Another option is to open up the file of interest in another application (ie: Notepad) and do a "save all". You will have the option of selecting the encoding scheme in the save dialog box. Related Links: Attachments:
