Why Do I Get the "Device ID Not Recognized" Run-time Error After Installing DIAdem and DIAdem CLIP?Primary Software: DIAdemPrimary Software Version: 8.1 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: I installed DIAdem and DIAdem CLIP on my machine and used the same license file for each product. When I try to launch DIAdem, I get the run-time error "Decoration line 118 over 9118 internal error: device id not recognized." The launch stops completely after I acknowledge this message. Solution: Although the license files that come with DIAdem and DIAdem CLIP appear identical, if they are mixed up during the installation process, this error will occur. Both DIAdem and DIAdem CLIP use a license file called DIAdem.lic (DIAdem actually uses a file named DIADEM.lic). Even though these two files have the same name, they contain different information. You must use the DIADEM.lic file containing the DIAdem license information for your DIAdem installation and the DIAdem.lic file containing the DIAdem CLIP license information for your DIAdem CLIP installation. You can either reinstall DIAdem using the correct DIADEM.lic file, or you can simply copy the DIAdem version of the license file into the DIAdem directory (C:\Program Files\National Instruments\DIAdem\) and launch the currently installed DIAdem. DIAdem also requires a password the first time you launch it, while DIAdem CLIP does not. The above information for DIAdem CLIP is identical for DIAdem INSIGHT.
