My VXI-834x (VXI-MXI-3) System Shows Up As a PXI Chassis in Measurement & Automation Explorer

Primary Software: Utility Software>>Measurement & Automation Explorer
Primary Software Version: 1.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A
Hardware: VXI/VME/MXI>>MXI Interfaces>>VXI-8345, VXI/VME/MXI>>MXI Interfaces>>VXI-8340

Problem:
I am using Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) 3.0 and a VXI-8340 or VXI-8345 to interface to a VXI system. Under my PXI system in MAX, my VXI board shows up as a PXI chassis. How do I prevent this?

Solution:
Having your VXI system listed as an unknown or incorrect chassis in MAX will not have any adverse effects. However, you can force MAX to identify your VXI system as such by following this procedure:
  1. Download the file attached below named National Instruments VXI-8340 Series.ini (it does not matter where you save the file to on your hard disk).
  2. Rename the file to chassis.ini
  3. Open MAX, navigate through the PXI System listed under Devices and Interfaces to the chassis you want to change.
  4. Right click on the chassis, and choose Identify As » Other from the right click menu.
  5. A file dialog window will appear. Navigate to the chassis.ini file that you saved in Step 2, select it, and click Open

The chassis will now be identified as a VXI-8340 Series Chassis.
