PXI-8231 Doesn't Show Up in MAX for Windows or Real-Time OS

Hardware: Instrument Connectivity Other>>Ethernet>>PXI-8231

Problem:
I have a PXI-8231 or PXI-8234 installed on my PXI chassis. When I boot into Windows or Real-Time (RT) and look in Measurement & Automation Explorer(MAX), I cannot find the device listed under My System or Remote Systems in Devices and Interfaces. Although when Windows boots it does recognize the additional local connection and in RT, the device shows up as disabled on the boot screen under my primary IP address. Are these cards installed properly and should they be showing up in Measurement & Automation Explorer(MAX)?

Solution:
The PXI-8231 and PXI-8234 will not show up as installed devices within Measurement & Automation Explorer(MAX). In the Windows OS, they should be recognized by the OS and automatically installed. You can check to make sure the card properly installs by going to your Device Manager and looking for them in the Network Adapters location. Follow the steps below to locate your device manager.
  1. Right click on My Computer
  2. Select Properties
  3. Click the Hardware tab
  4. Click the Device Manager button
  5. Locate your card(s) under Network Adapters
In the RT OS, the cards are automatically configured at bootup and a message will be displayed on the screen detailing a Device #. The primary Device listed will be your RT controllers built-in ethernet port. The next device, listed as disabled, will be the new ethernet port from your card that the RT OS has installed. To configure the device, follow the KnowledgeBase 4VMB6QSK: Detecting Ethernet Instrument on PXI RT Controllers.
