Problem: Is my FieldPoint controller poll-driven or event-driven and what does this mean? Solution: With polled I/O, the PC client must continually request data from the I/O device, regardless of whether the data has changed. In event-driven I/O, data is sent to the PC only when it changes. Polled I/O uses significant amounts of network bandwidth and processor time compared to event-driven I/O. Poll-Driven Controllers - FP-1000 - FP-1001 - [c]FP-20xx - cFP-21xx - cFP-22xx - FP-1300 - can operate as both Event Driven Controllers - FP-1600 - FP-1601 - cFP-18xx - FP-20xx - working as an FP-1600 - FP-1300 - can operate as both Related Links: KnowledgeBase 3HJJEDCC: FieldPoint Read Does Not Consistently Update Timestamp Output KnowledgeBase 2EAAUHJ6: How Much Bandwidth Does the Logos Real-Time Protocol Use?
