Problem:
I am getting error number 88302 in MAX when performing a self-test on an NI PXI-5610. The ACCESS and ACTIVE LEDs on the NI 5610 are not lit. How do I fix this problem?

Solution:
To fix error number 88302 for the NI 5610 perform the following tasks:
  1. First, ensure the operating user's account is added to the Administrator group in Windows.
  2. Ensure that MAX and all National Instruments programs are closed.
  3. End the process nimxs.exe from Task ManagerCut.
  4. Rename the Data folder from C:\Program Files\National Instruments\MAX\ directory.

  5. NOTE: If you have MAX 4.2 the location of the Data folder has changed.

    For Windows XP/2000:
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\National Instruments\MAX\Data

    For Windows Vista:
    C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\MAX\Data

  6. Restart the computer.
  7. Start MAX and attempt a self-test. If the error is resolved, you can delete the Data directory that you renamed.
