Archived: Saving and Loading Measurement & Automation (MAX) Configurations is Not Working in 2000/XP/Vista

This document has been archived and is no longer updated by National Instruments

Primary Software:
Primary Software Version: 3.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: Driver Software>>NI-DAQ, Driver Software>>NI-DAQmx

Problem:
I am properly loading a configuration file in MAX, but I do not see any change in configuration window. I also do not see the directory tree collapse and refresh with the new settings after I set a new configuration file.

Solution:
Windows 2000 and Windows XP have levels of access based on how you are logged into the system. The operating system may be restricting you from writing to the necessary directory. Log on as an administrator to ensure you have the necessary writing permission.

Windows Vista uses User Account Control (UAC) to help prevent programs requiring administrator-level permission from making unauthorized changes to the computer.

If you are logged on as administrator and you are still having problems, refer to the following link to be sure you are properly loading and saving your configuration file.

If you are using Windows Vista see this KnowledgeBase document.
