DIAdem Throws a "Cannot Open Excel File" Error When Importing an Excel File Primary Software: DIAdemPrimary Software Version: 9.1 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: DIAdem normally opens Excel Files seamlessly with the Excel Import Wizard. Sometimes when I try to import an Excel file however, DIAdem throws an error saying "Cannot open Excel file". I can open the file in Excel but cannot open in DIAdem. Solution: This problem can occur if the file that is being imported was created as a tab delimited file, but has since been imported into Excel. Tab delimited files need to be imported using the ASCII Import Wizard as opposed to the Excel Import Wizard. In this case, Windows may have associated tab delimited files with Excel since it had been imported into Excel in the past. Hence this file is seen by DIAdem as an Excel file and not an ASCII file. You can get around this problem by opening your file in Excel and applying the Excel defaults when prompted to do so. DIAdem will now recognize it as an Excel file and the aforementioned error will not occur.
